Black Tea – Loose Leaf
$2.00
50g: $2.00 1kg: $25.00
Ceylon black tea is made from the leaves and tender stems of the Camellia Sinensis plant, which are hand-picked, withered, rolled, fermented, dried, and sifted. Tea pluckers carefully select the bud and two to three leaves from each stem. These leaves are then dried until they’ve lost about 50% of their moisture in tea factories.
Mechanical rollers are used to break the leaves, followed by the fermenting stage where the leaves are fully oxidized, reducing antioxidant content but enhancing the tea’s full-bodied flavor. Finally, the leaves are dried and sifted for packaging.
Tea Tip Ceylon black tea originates from Sri Lanka, an island nation in the Indian Ocean. The cool temperatures and heavy rainfall of Sri Lanka create ideal conditions for tea cultivation.
Black tea tends to be relatively high in caffeine — about half as much as coffee — and features a dark, coppery color with a strong, robust flavor. It is commonly used in breakfast blends and pairs well with milk and sweeteners. Tea Tip Ceylon black tea is typically manufactured using high-quality black tea leaves.
